This is a great simple explanation about how the Mayan numbering system works; very interesting. I studied chinese in high school. I should do a post about that some time.

Anyway, I personally don’t believe that 2012 is the end of the world and this is why. The Mayan system was advanced, but it had it’s limitations. 2012 by the Mayan calendar is 5,126. That is the highest that their numbering system can go. Plain and simple. When they ran out of numbers they started over. That’s why their calendar is round and ours is not.

There is no doubt that the year 2012 will be interesting but I don’t think it will be the end. Other cultures had calendars too; the greeks had the great year cycle which was about 25,920 years; the chinese have a 60 year cycle. Neither of these stop at 2012.

Christians should look to Matthew 24:36 on this. Maybe that will keep you out of a cult or something.

That’s what I believe anyway, I won’t judge. Just don’t go and hurt yourself or anything. We all have a right to our beliefs.
